New art exhibit opens in Livingston

A retrospective of the work of the late Joel Krause is now on display at the Arts Council of Livingston (ACL).

Poster printing is often used to advertise and promote such exhibits throughout a city.

The Impressionists, as well as abstract expressionism and Native American Art, were heavy influences on the work of Krause. He spent many years assisting Seymour Lipton, a renowned sculptor, as well as working tirelessly and endlessly producing his own work, which has been featured in the homes of private collectors, and many galleries and shows.

Barbara Sax, President of the ACL, said that Krause was a gifted and prolific artist who was greatly influenced by the art movements of the 1950s and 1960s. Sax added that this exhibit demonstrates his exploration throughout his life of form and color. Bud Endress, who helped to curate the show and is a photographer with work hanging in the Museum of Modern Art, said that Krause was unique as an artist.

Krause attended the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts and has worked at the Newark Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The ACL Gallery is on Town Center Way in Livingston and is open from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Fridays and from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The exhibit will run through August 23.
