The Livingston Community Players (LCP) will be presenting 'Hairspray' this month at the Mt. Pleasant Middle School, under the direction of Bernard J. Solomon.
According to the president of the LCP, Phyllis Meranus, this is a show about Baltimore in the 1960s and offers an upbeat and contemporary change of pace for the community theater. Solomon adds that the cast is extremely talented and it may be the best musical the theater has produced since Chorus Line.
The theater is sponsored by the Department of Senior Youth and Leisure Services, the Arts Council of Livingston, the Livingston Board of Education, and the Livingston Town Council. It began as a choral program in the 1940s and became dormant in the mid-1990s due to rising costs of the productions and lack of volunteer leadership.
Meranus and Lois Dyer, also of Livingston, revived LCP in 2003 with a production of ‘Annie’ that had a successful run. However, Meranus commented, the theater is facing similar difficulties it had 20 years ago and this show is vital to the theater’s continued success.
Various Mailing services that employ Postcards and other media may be important to the theater in raising awareness in the community of this month’s production and its overall situation, so that it can find a permanent home for rehearsals and the shows themselves.
The show will be playing this Saturday, November 14, and will also run on November 15, 20, 21, and 22.Get a Free Quote for Mailing Get a Free Quote for Postcards
