The Livingston Public Library will be presenting a lecture on how to assess one’s household treasures next month.
Titled “What’s It Worth: Valuing your Treasures,” the talk will be by Marilyn Fish of Legacy Art and Estate Services. She will discuss the subject of valuation of collectibles, antiques, and art. Her talk will start with presenting examples from the PBS program, Antiques Roadshow, and continue with explaining the process of how professional appraisers conduct the formal appraisal process for the purposes of estate planning, donations, and insurance. An explanation of how attendees can accurately and systematically evaluate their possessions using the Internet and Books will conclude the talk.
Flyer printing is often used to attract people to talks such as this one and to publicize their benefits for individuals.
In addition to graduate work in art history and museum studies, Fish has passed the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice test and completed 60 credits of coursework with the Appraisers Association of America. She has worked in the field of art history as a freelance writer and researcher for art magazines and museum Catalogs and currently lectures at libraries and community centers on antiques and art history.
This talk will take place at the library on the evening of Monday February 3. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
