Livingston deputy mayor recognized for special needs dedication

The Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled (JSDD) of Metrowest recently honored Alfred Anthony, Deputy Mayor of Livingston, for his contributions to people with special needs and their families. This recognition was made at the fundraising gala of JSDD, held at the Gaelen Gallery East at the Jewish Community Center in West Orange.

A nonprofit provider of social services, JSDD believes that people like Anthony are needed so that Livingston can become more inclusive as a town. JSDD added that the public service and commitment of Anthony demonstrate that towns are more complete when people of all types are included.

Anthony employed a full-time adaptive recreation coordinator, Jennifer Quirk, in 2016 in an effort to include those with special needs into the many recreational offerings of the town.

Other amenities in Livingston that cater to those with special needs are the Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities; accessible transportation, pools, and playgrounds; and the registry maintained by the police department of all developmentally disabled individuals.

The gala coincided with the opening of a special interactive art exhibit at the Wellness, Arts, Enrichment Center which runs through the end of the month.

Poster printing companies can be used that the residents of Livingston become aware of such contributions to the community, highlighting the amenities in town for those with special needs.
