Holiday display to light up Livingston

A favorite display is returning to Livingston for the holidays, with special consideration for some viewers.

Over 50 years ago, Livingston toymaker Ernie Camuso built a holiday light display that is one of the city’s prime seasonal attractions. The display includes a towering Christmas tree made of red, green, and white lights. Now that the holidays are here, a date has been set for families with special needs to visit the display.

Bright lights, loud noises, and other stimulants can prove difficult for some individuals to handle, so a special day has been set aside for them to enjoy Camuso’s work. Customarily, his display is put up early in December and remains in place through the New Year.

This year, the Camuso Committee, working with the Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD), has planned a separate showing for those with special needs. The location is the Livingston Oval Gazebo located on Robert Hart Drive. In addition to viewing the Camuso display, attendees will meet and take photos with Santa, who has been fully vaccinated. They will be given a gift, and refreshments will be provided.

The date of the special showing is December 17, from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm. In case of foul weather, the display will be held December 19, at the same time. When local events like these are planned, organizers can use flyer printing to create handouts advertising them.
