Art contest shapes up in Livingston

For those high school students with a flair for art who live in the 11th Congressional District of New Jersey, which includes Livingston, the Congressional Art Competition for 2015 is now officially open.

A competition of the visual arts is sponsored by the Congressional Institute each spring, encouraging students to display their artistic talent in each district of Congress across the United States. Participation in the competition is at the discretion of each Member office.

Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen has supported this contest in his district and wishes the best of luck to all participants.

Friday, April 17, at 5:00 pm is the deadline for submissions. All entries must be no larger than 28 inches wide, 28 inches tall, and 4 inches thick. They should be two dimensional, not weigh more than 15 pounds including the frame, and be original in design, concept, and execution. A local Print company may have been used to Print a flyer or leaflet with more information about the requirements.

District artists make up a panel that selects the winning entries in the district. The winners and all other contestants will be honored at a reception on April 27 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Morris Museum. The winners are then recognized at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. and their works are displayed in there for one year.
