The people from Twisted Yogi are organizing a body-positive yoga experience called Twerk Yoga.
This is an event where people will get to loosen their hips, release accumulated stress, and shake off the cobwebs while having a great time. The yoga flow will be moving the beat of a dynamic playlist that includes Afrobeat, trap, reggae, and R&B. The high-tempo class will end with a relaxing guided meditation.
Attendees are required to bring their own water and maybe a friend. They can turn up with their own yoga mats or purchase one on the day for $5. Kneepads can also be brought, although a towel or cushion could be used instead. Logo designs could feature on some sports equipment.
The sessions are led by an instructor named KeKe, a skilled practitioner with more than 200 hours of training. She presents a unique style of yoga that she is passionate about and dedicated to sharing with others.
KeKe turned to yoga after working for years as Program Director at a non-profit. She found herself stressed out and weighed down by depression, which is why she turned to yoga. The discipline improved her life, and she wishes to share her knowledge with others.
Twerk Yoga sessions hosted by KeKe will be every Monday through November at 2823 North Roxboro Street in Durham.
