An acting workshop will be welcoming interested participants to a Durham venue this September, providing insights, tips, and an immersive learning experience to the town’s actors.
The Acting for Improvisers Workshop is designed to help improv actors to reach a higher level with their skills and performances. The workshop’s primary focus will be helping the actors who attend to bring themselves more into improv scenes and maintain that presence.
The workshop is scheduled to run for approximately two hours and requires a prerequisite course of Improv 201 (or an equivalent) or higher to sign up. Registered guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes that allow for comfortable movement. Cost-effective marketing methods like flyer printing can go a long way toward raising awareness of opportunities like this in communities like Durham.
A notebook and a pen or pencil are also encouraged to allow students to take notes. Hydration is important so water bottles are welcome at the host venue. Thaddeus Edwards, an accomplished improviser and actor from Durham, will be leading the workshop. He has over 20 years of experience with Triangle-area theaters.
The Mettlesome Lab at Golden Belt in Durham will host the improv acting workshop, which starts at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 5. Interested individuals can register on Eventbrite for $32.87 per person.
