Food enthusiasts with a DIY streak are in for a memorable experience next month, as a Durham restaurant will teach the skills necessary to make pasta from home.
Il Laboratorio has announced a new pasta-making workshop for Durham residents, providing participants with the knowledge necessary to make three different types of pasta that originate in Southern Italy. The class will be led by Carmella, the owner of Melina’s Fresh Pasta. Carmella uses the knowledge her family brought with them from Calabria, which is located on the “toe” of Italy’s boot.
Students will enjoy a welcoming environment where they will learn through hands-on experience and step-by-step instructions. The class will combine the different pasta noodles with a tasting using multiple sauces. Printing services are a great resource for organizers of such events who want to provide students with instructions and recipes to enhance their learning experience.
The noodle-making process will involve using flour and water and shaping by hand. The sauces will also be made during the class. The three pasta types students will make include Abruzzo, Campania, and Calabria. All the food made during the event is meant to be eaten, so interested parties should arrive hungry.
The pasta-making workshop will be held on Wednesday, December 3, with students welcome to arrive at 6:30 PM. Interested parties can reserve their spot online for $76.54 per person.
