Art journal meeting promotes mental health in Durham

Durham residents seeking a way to express themselves and enhance their mental health can look forward to a unique journaling event.

The Art Journal Lunch Break will begin in a few weeks, giving Durham residents a safe and comfortable space to share their thoughts, feelings, and dreams through art rather than the written word. Participants will meet for a long lunch break to take time to reflect, connect with other like-minded individuals, and share art.

The gathering is being planned by the Squirrel and Nut Arts Collective to add to the friendly art community in Durham. Interested parties are invited to bring their lunch and art journal to the session, which will be part of a monthly series. Each month will feature a unique theme and a technique demonstration that ties into the theme. Printing services are an excellent way to make Copies of artistic works and create new Journals for further entries.

Art supplies will be provided to attendees, and the lunch session is expected to last an hour. Guests can use street parking or access spots in a small lot across the street from the host venue.

SEEDS in Durham will host the art journaling series, welcoming guests and participants on Tuesday, August 5, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Interested parties can RSVP online for free.
