Science consortium to be held in Durham

Some of the top biotechnology scientists in the region will be converging on Durham in May to attend a symposium that shares the latest findings about microbiomes.

The 2026 North Carolina Microbiome Symposium has announced an upcoming all-day event in Durham that will combine opportunities to network with other professionals with research presentations and a keynote speech. The day will be headlined by Lakshmi Goyal, the day’s keynote speaker. Goyal has years of experience and is the Founding Editor in Chief of The Journal Cell Host and Microbe.

Poster sessions will also be a significant part of the event’s agenda. Trainees will have plenty of time to meet with their peers and begin building relationships that can lead to collaborations. Business card printing is an affordable way for attendees at such events to exchange information with their peers and build a network.

The event is an ideal setting for researchers and attendees from academia and industry scientists to meet. Interested parties are required to register for the symposium in advance. Space is limited at the host venue. Trainees who plan on making a poster must keep to the microbiome and meet the four-foot-by-four-foot size.

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center in Durham is hosting the symposium on Monday, May 4 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Reservations are open online starting at $40 for trainees and $100 for faculty and scientists.
