A vintage game of baseball is being put together for this autumn in Durham, and sports fans will want to save the date to build the unique experience into their plans.
The Vintage Base Ball Day, taking place at the Durham Athletic Park, has gone public with the official date for the friendly competition, and Durham families, history enthusiasts, and sports lovers are all welcome to enjoy a day at the ballpark.
It is being put together by the Duke Homestead Education & History Corporation as a way to celebrate the city’s deep baseball roots while honoring the achievements and struggles that baseball players have managed to overcome over the decades. Players will wear authentic vintage uniforms, use vintage equipment, and adhere to Beadle’s Rules. Print shops can provide vintage-style programs to hand out to attendees at sporting events like this to add to the atmosphere.
The environment will be family-friendly, and old-fashioned concessions will be available for purchase. Fans are welcome to wear vintage outfits of their own. The game will raise funds for the Duke Homestead State Historic Site.
Historic Durham Athletic Park, located on West Corporation Street, will host the vintage baseball game on Saturday, October 3rd, starting at 10:00am. General admission costs $10 online, and children 4 years old and under enter for free.Get a Free Quote for Print
