Durham is doing its part to promote the culinary options available to vegans in the Triangle region with its upcoming Bull City Vegan Chef Challenge.
The Triangle cities of Durham, Raleigh, Cary and Chapel Hill have received press recently for their grassroots campaigns to promote veganism. From the Moral March on Raleigh having its own vegan contingent to the Vegan Chalk Challenge, vegans are making their presence known. Durham, with its 4th Bull City Vegan Chef Challenge, is once again showing itself open to the diet.
This year, 15 restaurants are participating in the month-long challenge. Each chef will concoct a vegan specialty that will be included on an omnivorous restaurant menu. The establishments in question will promote their part in the challenge with the assistance of the printing service that handles their regular advertisement. Flyers announcing not only their vegan specialty but also one or more of their signature dishes will help entice both vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores to dine at the eateries that take part.
Diners will judge the Challenge, which takes place April 1 to 30. An event such as this one enables Bull City Vegan to further its goal of bringing more culinary options for area vegans. Vegan selections will include Peruvian, Soul Food, Italian, Mexican, and pub-inspired dishes, as well as bakeries.
