According to a study made by the website SmartAsset, once again Durham has shown itself to be the best city in the state and among the top 10 in the country for women working in tech jobs.
Chambers of commerce, schools, and real estate companies all want to work with printing companies to publicize the results of surveys such as this one.
Durham has been credited this year as hiring a higher percentage of female tech industry workers, as well as having a lower gender pay gap than most of the other municipalities studied. Only cities with populations of 200,000 or more were, considered with the 2018 American Community Survey from the Census Bureau supplying the numbers.
The study showed the Bull City as having 30% of its tech jobs being held by women. This rate is over the national average of 26.1% and was the 10th highest among the study cities. Furthermore, while the gender pay gap for the nation is an average of 83% with the annual female tech earnings of $55,747, Durham’s gender gap stands at 86% with $57,500 being the annual earnings for its female technology workers.
A rundown of the criteria used to rank cities include gender pay gap, total tech jobs held by women, income excluding housing costs and four-year employment growth. Other large North Carolina cities on the list include Charlotte and Raleigh at No. 20 and No. 55 respectively.
