Pasta lovers and Durham residents with a knack for DIY will want to make a note in their Journals, as an informative workshop is around the corner.
The Pasta Making Class: Passport to Naples, Italy will teach interested parties and participants the basics of creating pasta in the traditional Italian style from home. The session will be led by Carmella, the owner of Melina’s Fresh Pasta. The session will combine learning with fun, allowing each student to eat the food they create.
The class will start by creating the fresh egg pasta dough necessary to bring the noodles to life. Students will then roll the dough out into thin sheets before cutting it into linguine noodles and shaping it into paccheri tubes. Brochure printing is a fantastic way to provide more information and steps to attendees in such workshops, and to aid with information retention.
Carmella will also teach attendees how to make three types of traditional pasta sauce. The savory sauces include puttanesca, a mildly spicy tomato sauce; allo scarpariello, a fresh cherry tomato sauce mixed with cheese; and alla nerano, a creamy sauce made from zucchini.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The host venue will be Il Laboratorio restaurant in Durham. Tickets cost $76.54, and students can enroll online.
