The best of North Carolina’s food, culinary talent and agriculture will once again be highlighted with The Got to Be NC Competition Dining Series, and Durham is the location for the first single-elimination tournament.
This year’s competition will, for the first time, permit All-Star Dream Teams. Chefs who work in different restaurants can partner together to build three-person teams. Moreover, each restaurant can request that its chef’s participation be included in the promotional materials its printing company supplies.
Two teams will go head to head in a blind six-course meal for each dinner battle. Community members who obtain tickets can attend and take part in the rating process, along with guest judges. An interactive app will be used by diners to evaluate each dish as a means of determining who goes home and who rises to the next level.
Durham’s competition will begin on Monday, April 18 with the initial first-round battle, after which another first-round will take place on April 19. The winners from the two first-round competitions will clash in the Durham finale on April 21, and the winner of that competition will be in the running for the state title.
Durham’s Competition Dining Series will take place in American Tobacco Campus’ Bay 7 at 318 Blackwell Street from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm each night. Tickets can be ordered here.
