The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is taking place this weekend in St. Paul. The annual harvest festival is celebrated by both the Chinese and Vietnamese people, and is hosted by the Vietnamese Community of Minnesota.
The event, which is suitable for everyone in the family regardless of age, will feature many Vietnamese cultural performances featuring music and dance; including the traditional lion dance.
There will be craft making and a Community Resource Fair, which will feature information booths representing a range of non-profit organizations and government agencies that provide services in the city.
There will also be a lantern-making contest, folk tale storytelling, and lots of diverse food for purchase, including moon cake. In addition, a parade will follow the lion dancers and will take place in Rice Park. Most of the participants will carry lanterns along the parade route.
This event should attract many people in the St. Paul area, and not only those of Vietnamese descent but those who are interested in learning about their community and the cultures of other nations. In order to attract the full spectrum of guests, organizers may invest in flyer printing services.
The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is being held at the Landmark Center on September 7 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Admission is free. For more information, call 651-292-3233.
