St. Paul fundraiser to get magical

The Minnesota Children’s Museum will be holding a special fundraising event this April, highlighting illusion and other types of play.

The event, dubbed “Play is Magic”, will feature different types of play and entertainment scattered throughout the museum, ranging from sleight-of-hand illusions to acrobatic demonstrations. Performers include magician AnnMarie Thomas, Delonn Crosby and his educational robot ToyBot, and mentalist Morgan May. Advertising encourages visitors to:

“Feel like a kid again as you explore the museum in a whole new way, rediscovering the wonder of play through a grown-up lens of nostalgia and joy.”

The fundraiser will also feature a silent auction with magic-themed items. These include donations from Dr. Arthur Benjamin, Vanishing Inc. and OK Go. There will be a cash bar providing refreshments throughout the event. Visitors can also take a look at the Museum’s exhibits in an exclusive nighttime setting, including the ongoing “Thomas and Friends: Explore the Rails.”

All proceeds from tickets and silent auctions will go towards the Children’s Museum, which aims to use play to encourage childhood learning and play, ranging from climbing towers to artist studios. Fundraising events like this one often use brochure printing and speeches to help explain the cause and recognize contributing volunteers and sponsors.

The 2026 Play is Magic event will take place on the evening of Wednesday, April 8 at the Minnesota Children’s Museum.
