What's Happening in St. Paul, MN…

St. Paul YWCA to dance all day

The St. Paul YWCA will be holding a special fundraiser this November with its first ever Dance-A-Thon.

The event will see the St. Paul institution turned into a nightclub for one evening as part of a “un-gala” fundraiser. There will be five hours of an open dance floor with live performers and DJs visiting throughout the event. The special guest lineup includes Ray Covington, Krishawna Sade, and Jodan Johnstone, with more to be announced. There will also be line dancing led by Tina Jackson.

The Dance-A-Thon will also feature food vendor and a VIP “Speakeasy” area. It is part of the YWCA’s “What Moves You?” Challenge Series, which embraces various ways of staying active. Fundraising events like these often use poster printing and flyers or social media to attract participants from the local area, as well as to feature sponsors and volunteers who have contributed to the event.

Funds raised through the Dance-A-Thon will go towards YWCA St. Paul’s services, which include housing for women and families facing homelessness, job training classes, and Health & Fitness Center scholarships for over 500 community members per year. Those not interested in dancing can cheer from the sidelines or donate from home.

The YWCA St. Paul Dance-A-Thon will take place on the evening of November 1 at the organization’s historic Selby Avenue location.
