Upper Marlboro to see the stars
Star Struck Superstars will be holding its signature event, Summer Showdown, here in Upper Marlboro in a couple of weeks. The host will be Tyras, and the DJ will be Trophy Guy.
The competition will be divided into two divisions. Division I will be for groups with more than three years of experience, while those groups with three years or less will be in Division II. Each division will have eight teams. Categories for Division I will be the Walk Through, Creative Show, a Stand Battle, and Parent Category. Division II will have the Creative Show, Captain and Stand Battles, and a Parent Category.
This year's judges will be Gee, Damien, Jason, and Jamar, and they will be looking for stage presence, creativity, sportsmanship, and costumes. Division I Grand Champion will receive $1,500 and Division II Grand Champion claims $1,000, and several other cash prizes are available across the categories.
Winners, especially Grand Champion winners, at competitions such as this often have pictures taken during the awards ceremony. These might find their way to local print shops to be added to family calendars and newsletters.
Summer Showdown will take place from noon to 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 12 at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School, 12650 Brooke Lane. The event has listings on Eventbrite and AllEvents offering more information.
