An opportunity to get active and outdoors is coming to Upper Marlboro this autumn, with a local foundation organizing the event to bring community members together.
The Annual 5K Walk and Run is coming to Upper Marlboro this October, with organizers looking forward to putting a day of physical activity and new friendships together. It is open to any interested individuals and parties, with participants who are aiming for a new personal record just as welcome as those who want to enjoy a leisurely walk in nature.
The race, which will span five kilometers, will be followed by an after-party where spectators and participants can enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs. Children who join their parents will have a playground and the host site to play and burn through more of their energy. Organizers can promote events like this and welcome participants with banner printing, all while building brand awareness.
Awards will be given to both runners and walkers who finish in first, second, or third place. Participants can use the event to make new friendships and train for other running events. Spectators and participants are encouraged to dress for the weather.
Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro is set to host the 5K and after-party on Saturday, October 3 from 9:00 am to noon. Registration for runners and walkers costs $30 online.
