Upper Marlboro learns about farming

The Gift Legacy Foundation will be hosting the 3rd Annual National Urban Farm Festival here in Upper Marlboro in early May.

Local families, growers, educators, and vendors will be showcasing gardening, food access, and community-based agriculture in this festival in order to celebrate community connection, sustainable living, and urban agriculture.

Hands-on learning will feature urban farming workshops and gardening tips, along with demonstrations on urban farming techniques and farming tools. Local small agricultural businesses and makers will be exhibiting and selling their products and services. Marketplace vendors will be offering garden products, urban farming technology, and sustainable living tools. Other exhibits will be centered on urban farming and education.

The venue will offer live music and activities, while food trucks will be hawking regional and local cuisine. Although admission will be free, donations will be welcome.

Sponsorships will be available and will offer logo placement on event printed materials, website and signage, vendor booths, and acknowledgement during the event. These sponsorships will go to supporting the Foundation's programs, including urban agriculture education, programming for STEAM-based youth, food security initiatives, innovation, and support for local vendors and growers.

Events like this often get their printed materials created at nearby Print shops a few weeks in advance.

The 3rd Annual National Urbana Farm Festival will take place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 2 at 17230 Swanson Road.
