Many Upper Marlboro residents will be participating in the 2026 Make a Difference Walk and Resource Fair coming in mid-April.
The event will be designed to raise awareness, connect people to local support service and honor crime survivors.
From 7.30 am to 8 am at Pavilion O, volunteers will pass out route maps, wristbands and water to participants, and resource booths will begin to be set up. Opening remarks will begin at 8 am with remarks by Prince George's County Sheriff's Office and State's Attorney's Office. Either a survivor of a crime or family member will offer a brief thought.
The walks will begin at 8.30 am. The 1-mile will be stroller-friendly, while the 3.1 mile will take walkers on a moderate paved wooded loop.
After the walks everyone is invited to stick around for the Resource Fair and meander through resources booths that will offer information on issues such as domestic violence support, mental-health and family support providers, youth programs, and legal aid. A Healing Pavilion will offer a shaded quiet area with reflection cards, memory ribbons, instruction for guided breathing and support volunteers.
Granola Bars, fruit and water will be available for refreshments.
Groups that participate in charity events like this often get matching shirts with a clever name printed on them from local Print shops.
The 2026 Make a Difference Walk & Resource Fair will take place April 18th from 8 am to 11.30 am at Pavilion O at Watkins Regional Park.
