Upper Marlboro to hold charity run

A charity run/walk event will be held in Upper Marlboro in mid-November.

This event will allow participants to provide a turkey for a needy family, as well as run or walk through a setup of Christmas lights. The path is almost three miles long, and is available to drive through when this event is not in place. The trot will give guests the opportunity to see the displays close up. Turkeys donated will be provided to families in Prince George’s County.

Attendees will get a shirt with a commemorative graphic design. This and the donation of the turkey are included in the ticket price along with the spot to participate in the event, which will cost $30. For those who donate a minimum of $500, their Logo Design will be put on all the shirts given out. The tickets can be purchased through Parks Direct.

Trot For A Turkey will be held in the Winter Festival of Lights display at Watkins Regional Park. This display has gone up annually for more than 30 years. Masks are encouraged while in the area of registration and social distancing is a requirement for the duration of the event. Guidelines for large events that are in place at the time of the activity will be followed.

The event will occur on November 20 and will run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
