Three charity events have been scheduled here in Upper Marlboro for next Saturday, October 29. Two are for breast cancer awareness and one will be tackling domestic abuse.
A “Shatter the Silence” 5K walk/race/bike event will start the day at 7:30 am. The event, hosted by the Prince George’s County Division of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, will be free. Any donations received will go to Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Center at University of Maryland Capital Region Health. The 5K will take place at Watkins Regional Park, 301 Watkins Park Drive, and should last until around 11:30 am.
Later in the day, the 3rd annual Dance for a Chance Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser will begin at 1:30 pm. Sunshine Fitness has partnered with local Dance Fitness, Zumba Fitness, and MixxedFit instructors to guide guests in the latest dance fitness moves. There will be five vendors on site. Guests at events such as this often collect Business Cards from the vendors. Tickets will be $35.
Finally, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, a Breast Cancer Awareness Event will celebrate surviving the disease. The festivities will include musicians, catered dinner, an open bar, guest speakers, photos, a balloon release, and swag Bags. Guests are encouraged to shop at the sponsor’s Innovative Floral Impression booth. General admission tickets will be $100.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Event will be at the Comfort Inn, 9421 Largo Drive.
