Fright Fest has returned to Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro during the month of October, featuring new attractions to entertain and scare guests in the spirit of Halloween.
There is a new haunted house maze that was designed by Jeremy Fox, and is a collection of the scary things of which he was afraid when growing up. The house is composed of a series of themed rooms, including a Victorian asylum. The best-looking creatures are a gigantic and menacing executioner on the prowl and a large horned demon.
There are about a dozen actors in the house and all costumes were built in-house. Fox designed the masks and said that it took three months and about 1,500 hours of work to create the haunted maze.
The other new feature is the revamping of a musical and was developed and directed by Douglas Ladnier, a Broadway veteran. The story involves three members of the Ghost Patrol who get lost on Halloween night and end up at a mansion owned by a voodoo princess who puts them under her control. The trio are found singing some familiar pop, show, and classic rock tunes while under her spell.
