Two active events scheduled for same day
A running event and an egg hunt have been scheduled for an April Saturday.
Eula E. Mials, an advocate for education, trailblazer for library science, and community matriarch, will be honored with the First Annual Elula E. Mials Reading Road to Success 5k Walk Run coming in April.
Registration will be $30 per adult and $30 for kids from ages 4 to 16. Families with two children and two adults can buy special $95 family registration packages.
Proceeds will go to the Eula E. Mials Education fund, which offers financial aid to college-bound Prince George’s County and surrounding community students. The fund awards from $350 to $4,000 every year to students until they complete their studies.
The first it what is hoped to become an annual event, the 5k will take place at Watkins Regional Park, 301 Watkins Park Drive on Saturday, April 1 from 8:00 am to noon.
Also that day, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Egg-celllent Adventures 2nd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt will be taking place. Hunts will be divided into age-specific timeslots.
Upper Marlboro little ones will be entertained with food and games, and vendors will be selling Easter-type treats and merchandise. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.
Proud parents often take pictures of their children with the Easter Bunny at events such as this, then take the photos to nearby print shops to be added to their yearly family newsletters.
