Seasonal celebrations to get started in Upper Marlboro

Upper Marlboro will be presenting Winter Festival of Lights beginning at the end of this month, and a Christmas wonderland event in early December.

Watkins Park will be opening its Winter Festival of Lights featuring new displays like the 55-foot musical LED tree, as well as the old beloved toy soldiers, candy canes, colorful snowflakes, and gingerbread men displays. The carousel will be lit with festive Christmas lights and there will be a life-size gingerbread house.

The Winter Festival of Lights will be at Watkins Regional Park, 301 Watkins Park Drive from this Sunday, November 24 through January 1.

Meanwhile, the Upper Marlboro Tree Lighting & Christmas Town Event 2024 will see downtown become a winter wonderland with streets decked out with decorations and lights. Christmas-themed activities will be available, live performances will be on every corner, and carolers will be singing holiday favorites. Children may visit Santa, and food vendors will be selling holiday treats. Visitors may meander through a Christmas market of local arts and artisans to find holiday gifts.

Pictures taken at events in early December still have time to be taken to local Stationery printers to become subjects of this year's Christmas cards.

The Upper Marlboro Tree Lighting & Christmas Town Event is free to attend and will take place Saturday, December 7 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm in Downtown Upper Marlboro, 14730 Main Street.
