Runners run for time and turkeys

Upper Marlboro runners has two races coming up in November.

The 4th annual Rosaryville Veteran’s Day 50k has added a 20k option this year. The route will be on a trail through the meadows and wooded areas in Rosaryville State Park. Since the single track is buffed out, the race will be a suitable one for all skill levels.

Registration for the 20k is $25 until the end of October, when it goes up to $30. Registration for the 50k is $50 until October 31, when it will go up to $60. The races will begin at the pavilion picnic area. Packets will be available for pickup at the pavilion on race day from 6:30 am to 7:30 am. Swag will no doubt feature the event’s red and pink emblem with the black fox graphic design.

Awards will begin at 1:30 pm for winners in the overall male and female, super seniors, seniors, masters, and active or retired military categories.

The 2023 Rosaryville Veteran’s Day 50k will be Saturday, November 11, beginning at 8:00 am at Rosaryville State Park, 7805 W Mariton Avenue.

The following weekend, the Winter Festival of Light’s Trot for a Turkey will be a three-mile course taking participants through twinkling light displays in Watkins Regional Park. Registration fees will provide holiday turkeys for needy families.

The trot will take place Saturday, November 18 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Watkins Regional Park, 301 Watkins Park Drive.
