Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo will be coming to Upper Marlboro toward the end of September.
The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo is a celebration honoring black cowboys and girls and their accomplishments in building the west. As in over the last 38 years, this will be a Black Heritage cultural event embracing cowboy culture through re-enactments, Western adventure, and history highlights.
Events will include bareback and ranch bronc riding, calf roping, bull dogging, and bull riding. Ladies will compete in breakaway roping, steer undecorating and barrel racing. The youth series will include relay racing, breakaway roping, and barrel racing.
The Bill Pickett Rodeo has a foundation that provides educational experiences and technical school and college scholarships. Souvenirs such as Posters from the Las Vegas show; black, orange, and beige T-Shirts sporting the event’s white graphic design; and men and women’s purple polo shirts are available online.
Admission for the Saturday 1:30 pm performance will be $27 for seniors and children for advance tickets, $32 at the gate. It will be $37 for advance adult or $40 at the gate.
Saturday’s evening performance admission will be $30 for seniors and children in advance, $35 at the gate. Again, it will be $37 for adult advance tickets and $40 at the gate.
