A program was recently launched by Avanath Capital Management that will be located at two senior communities, focusing on health education and promoting an active lifestyle.
Vice President of fund management, Ada Arevalo, said that residents enjoy this program while it also serves to fulfill the social-impact fiduciary duties of the company.
The program is being introduced at Manor at Victoria Park in Temple Hills, Maryland and at Vistas at Lake Largo in Upper Marlboro. It includes healthy cooking classes, social events held every quarter to encourages interaction among the residents, and fitness and exercise classes. Among the other services offered are classes on important topics like management of cholesterol, diabetes, and medications; cholesterol and blood sugar testing; healthy eating habits; and balancing and fall prevention.
Brochure and flyer printing companies can be hired to provide more detailed information about such services and programs.
To enable these services to be provided, community space that had been previously underutilized at these facilities was converted into a wellness space with equipment for medical exams, medical supplies, screening rooms with exam tables, and other items needed for administering health exams.
Arevalo added that such holistic wellness initiatives like Activate, where social engagement is key and offered at communities for seniors, enable people them to thrive and live longer lives.
