Jazz fans look forward to festival

Upper Marlboro jazz fans may wish to investigate the upcoming 12th annual Lake Arbor Jazz Festival coming in mid-July.

The VIP Unplugged Reception will start things off at Wellspring Manor and Spa, 11311 Drumsheugh Lane, on Wednesday, July 13 starting at 6:00 pm. The event will feature jazz saxophonist Elan Trotman. Tickets are $75 and are only sold in advance.

A Celebrity Golf Outing is planned for Thursday, July 14 at Upper Marlboro’s Oak Creek Golf Course, 600 Bowieville Manor Lane. Registration will be at 7:00 am with the shotgun start at 8:00 am.

The Center for Performing Arts on 301 Largo Road, Largo will hold a pre-festival concert featuring Ann Nesby and Jonathan Butler, along with the annual Summer White Affair opening at 6:00 pm on Friday, July 15, with the concert beginning at 7:30 pm.

The Lake Abor Jazz Festival will be at the Lake Arbor Community Center, 10100 Lake Arbor Way, Mitchellville on Saturday, July 16, opening at noon with performances beginning at 1:30 pm. Along with emcee Tony Richards and jazz talent from WAR, Karen Linette, Eric Darius, Nathan Mitchel, and Down to the Bone, the festival will have more than 50 merchandise and food vendors.

Fans of these artists will surely be looking around the venue for memorabilia featuring the festival or artist’s Logo Design.

Tickets will be $95 for same-day general admission, $75 for lawn seating, $145 for the Outback VIP Tent, and $165 for the Wellspring Manor & Spa Tent.
