Many Upper Marlboro fitness and healthcare businesses are planning to participate in the upcoming Family Health Expo coming at the end of April. This edition will be focusing on healthy lifestyles.
Expo attendees will be viewing and engaging with wellness activities and exhibits. Some educational and awareness booths will feature child safety, self-care information, ergonomics, nutritional information, substance abuse information, dental and oral health, childcare resources and women’s and men’s health issues. Other booths will have first aid and emergency demonstrations and information, preparedness, recreational safety, recycling, and organic produce.
Some activities will include dental, hearing, nutrition, diabetes seminars, a blood drive, and vision care. Other activities will be chair massages, yoga, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. There will also be cancer and preventive exam scheduling, and mobile mammography.
Screenings will be available for blood pressure, bone, body mass index, flexibility, glucose, and hearing, along with health risk assessment, density, and cholesterol testing.
Some demonstrations will include exercise equipment, healthy cooking, aerobic step, proper lifting, martial arts, and emergency preparedness.
Presentations on mental health, teen depression, weight loss, and arthritis information have been created to aid guests navigating the healthcare system. Healthcare and fitness specialists will be on hand answering questions and handing out Business Cards.
The Family Health Expo will be Saturday, April 30 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Dutch Market Shopping Center, 5030 Brown Station Road, Suite 145. Admission will be free.
