The Maryland Grazing School will be hosted at Clagett Farm in Upper Marlboro this fall. The course is designed for a two-day experience providing in-depth information on grazing and pasture management. Farmers and producers are encouraged to attend to learn more efficient farm grazing management techniques.
Some of the topics that will be presented during the course will include forage identification along with appropriate selection, assessing pasture health and monitoring the ongoing conditions, and forage yield measurement tools.
Attendees will learn how to manage the fertility and health of soil while ensuring the health of animals. Developing a rotating grazing system will also be discussed along with watering options.
The course is a hands-on event as attendees work with relevant tools and materials meant for fencing. Each participant should be prepared to leave with a specialized plan for farm grazing.
Educators often use PowerPoint or similar presentations during class. Using graphic design attracts and maintains interest and attention. Bright, colorful graphics can be created by designers at local Print shops.
The two-day grazing class course will be limited to 30 people for the purpose of keeping the group small and giving individualized attention and assistance. Each day will run from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with lunch being provided. A dinner will be served the second evening.
