La-Z Boy recently signed a lease to rent a building for the next 12 years in Upper Marlboro. Located in the Collington Trade Center, the building will be used as for its logistics and distribution operations.
The furniture company’s building is close to 221,000 square feet in size and on a property owned by AEW and MRP Industrial, next to several main thoroughfares in the area, including interstates 95, 97, and 495, as well as Route 301, a major corridor that runs north and south in Prince George’s County. It is about a one-hour drive west of Washington, D.C.
Features of the building include a 185-foot truck court, two overhead drive-in doors, 40 dock doors, ceilings measuring 32 feet in height, and unreinforced concrete flooring seven inches deep.
D. Reid Townsend, principal and co-founder of MRP Industrial, commented that many national companies are finding Prince George’s County to be an ideal location for their requirements for large scale warehousing, and this new lease is a demonstration of this current trend. MRP Industrial is planning to add a single-story commercial building and a research and development facility to Collington Park in the near future.
The company plans to move into the building sometime this fall. Various printing services could be used by such companies to showcase these developments and opportunities for growth.
