Festival of Lights celebrates holidays

Prince George County Department of Parks and Recreation is currently hosting its annual Festival of Lights.

The three-mile drive-through features over two million lights arranged in twinkling displays. Guests can expect to see toy soldiers, reindeer, candy canes, colorful snowflakes, the Carousel of Lights, and a life-size gingerbread house. New this year will be the 54-foot LED musical tree. Complimentary 3-D glasses are available for guests to enjoy the lights even more.

The Watkins Nature Center will have a firepit for guests to warm up and enjoy hot chocolate.

Organizations that host shows like this often take photos of the event to local Print shops to be added to their following year’s brochure printing.

Along with the drive-through, the park will still feature its Chesapeake Carousel, Old Maryland Farm, Watkins Nature Trail, and miniature train.

Admission for vans or cars are $8 in advance or $10 at the gate. Minibuses and limousines will pAY $20, and busses are $30. To show appreciation to all the support Prince George County residents have given to the Department of Parks and Recreation programs throughout the year, there will be free admission on Christmas Day. Attendees are asked to bring canned goods for local food banks.

Winter Festival of Lights at Watkins Park 2022-2023 will take place from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm daily and run until Sunday, January 1. Everyone is asked to use the Route 202 entrance. Watkins Park is located at 301 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro.
