Prince George’s Community College (PGCC), based in Largo, was recently visited by Congressman Anthony Brown to take a tour of the Culinary Arts Center.
The congressman even took part in a class on Baking Skills. It is likely that students from the Upper Marlboro campus also attended this special event.
Brown was accompanied by President of PGCC, Dr. Charlene Dukes. He was able to learn about the resources of the Culinary Arts Center and the opportunities it provides to students in terms of hospitality and the culinary arts.
Dukes commented that because the center enables students to learn and work in a real environment, it is an important part of the college. He noted that the hospitality industry in Maryland is growing and the program helps to meet the demands for a high-quality workforce. Brochure printing can be used to create Brochures with more information about such programs so as to attract students to the culinary arts and hospitality industries.
Brown and the class of Chef Stephen Thomas, adjunct faculty at PGCC, were lectured about the process of bread baking, which was then followed by the baking itself of a treat. Thomas expressed his pleasure in welcoming elected officials to the college to highlight the college’s efforts in providing a career-oriented education.
There are industry-style equipment and kitchens in the center so that students have hands-on experience that prepares them to enter the workforce.
