The 12th Annual American Indian Festival is scheduled in Upper Marlboro in the fall. The event celebrates the rich culture of Native Americans and the diverse cultures.
Dozens of activities are on the agenda including traditional and contemporary live performances and authentic dancing. Drumming and singing along with storytelling add to the unique fun of the day.
Exhibits offering interactive experiences include archery, artifacts, finger weaving, genealogy, beading, languages, flint-knapping, and several Native games and crafts. A live Birds of Prey display is also included. Native horsemanship, regalia, and life skills add to the event schedule. Basket craft, a collective “Pendleton” blanket, and Native made items can be found at the festival. Many of the activities have nominal fees or are free.
Vendors will be on hand offering traditional food, crafts, art, Books and products. Banner printing is available through local printing services for vendors wishing to place highly visible signage in their booths to attract interest. The vinyl signage can be customized in any color theme and sized to fit the booth as needed.
The 2020 American Indian Festival will take place on Saturday, October 17 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Patuxent River Park. This Upper Marlboro park is located at 16000 Croom Airport Road. Admission is free as well as parking. More information is available via the event website.
