The Springfield YMCA will be opening its summer camps to kids this year.
Uriah Rodriguez, Executive Director of Operations for the Springfield YMCA, said that renovations are currently being made so that state guidelines can be followed, and full capacity can be restored. The summer camps typically offer archery, arts and crafts, a pool, field games, nature activities, and a ropes course. Flyer printing can provide more details about the features and activities at such camps, dates for the several age groups, and how to sign up for them.
The camps are designed to help children build their self-confidence and discover the world around them. Camp counselors are carefully selected to enable campers to explore science and technology, create masterpieces during arts and crafts, and appreciate nature through field trips.
At full capacity there are 350 children a day at the camps with about 1,100 throughout the entire summer season. Rodriguez said that the camps primarily serve inner city children and were very much missed last year. He is looking forward to having the camps running this season.
Rodriguez added that the camps will be starting early this year as there were no snow days. Those who are interested in attending these camps will be able to sign up beginning this month with the camps to start sometime in May.
