Bright Nights at Forest Park is currently underway in Springfield.
This is a holiday lighting experience that features over 750,000 lights along a journey of three miles. There is a new chalet-inspired entryway in gold and green that will lead to an animated tree that is 50 feet tall and choregraphed to music. There is a star on the top that is four feet tall.
Songs that include “Feliz Navidad,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year,” “Let it Snow,” and “Jingle Bells” will accompany the changing of patterned lights. The tree is adorned with 1,822 ornaments that range in size from three to six inches.
The XR Lab at Western New England University is providing a bit of augmented reality. Visitors scan a QR code and then they will appear on their front camera as one of Santa’s elves with a green hat and snow falling in the background, all virtually. The back camera will show the person in focus as being transported to the North Pole. Santa Claus will be in his new green and red cottage designed specially for his stay at Bright Nights.
Such festive events and their new attractions can be promoted throughout a city with flyer printing.
Bright Nights runs through Sunday January 4. Opening hours are from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 10:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
