Springfield expands electric bike sharing program

The new ValleyBike Share Station at Myrtle Street Park in Indian Orchard, Springfield is now open.

The ValleyBike program is the only bikeshare network in the region. It now offers new electric bikes and many bike stations throughout the city of Springfield, and provides affordable, sustainable short-range transportation options with electric bikes docked at stations in several communities in the area, as well as at the campus at UMass Amherst. The program is administered by the city of Northampton.

Springfield is the first municipality in the program to use the new electric bikes and stations. These bikes are more comfortable and lighter than the previous bikes, and are more durable, so they offer an improved experience for the rider. The older models also required larger charging stations as the new stations have swappable batteries changed on a regular basis by local operations.

Such unique programs can turn to brochure printing to provide more details on how to sign up and use them.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno said that work continues to expand the regional ValleyBike Share Program, which serves the downtown core of Springfield and the medical district, and connects to other towns and cities in the region. He added that it benefits many visitors, residents, and workers and is good for the environment, as well as everyone’s health.
