Springfield will be hosting two summer event series—Movies in the Park and Concerts in the Park.
The Movies in the Park series is held every summer with movie nights shown on the big screen in various neighborhoods around Springfield. Each movie will be held at a different park around the city for one week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. The showtimes for each movie will be at 8:30 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring a snack, a blanket, and chairs to be able to fully enjoy each movie.
The movies will be during the weeks of July 14 (when the movie will be Moana 2), July 21 (Wild Robot), and July 28 (Paddington in Peru).
The Springfield Parks Department hosts the Concerts in the Park series. These concerts will be held at the Amphitheater in Forest Park. New this year will be food and beverage trucks at the concerts offering food and drink for purchase. These concerts are free and will be on Thursday nights from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The first concert is on July 17, featuring Dee Reilly.
Such concerts and movies can be promoted throughout a city with flyer printing.
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno expressed his thrill at having these concerts and movies return to the city’s parks this summer, and hopes they will allow people to get outside and enjoy the parks together.
