Western Massachusetts prepares for special celebrations

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be taking place in Holyoke next month with many events leading up to this annual event residents of Springfield will certainly want to participate in one or more of these may activities.

Such special events are often promoted throughout the area with flyer printing services.

The festivities start with a Tartan Party at the Yankee Pedlar Horse. People are encouraged to wear their green and shamrock outfits and their parade tartans as adults enjoy beer and wine and children ride the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round. Parade merchandise will be available for purchase. This event will take place on Saturday March 7 from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m.

The official kick-off of the celebrations will be Marshal Mania, a fundraiser for the Parade Committee. Featured will be the music of The Sighs and include food, a cash bar, and raffles. It will take place at The Wherehouse in Holyoke at 8:00 p.m. on Friday March 13. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The parade will be led by the Grand Marshal, a resident of the city who is of Irish ancestry. Featured will be championship bands from New England, prize winning floats, notable celebrities, and the presentation of the John F. Kennedy National Award. It will be televised live by WWLP, the NBC affiliate for Western Massachusetts and take place on Sunday March 22 beginning at 10:30 a.m.
