Springfield to offer fellowship for creative developmen

The Trust Transfer Project Artist Development Fellowship Cohort has been announced by the Community Music School of Springfield (CMSS) and the Springfield Cultural Partnership (SCP).

This fellowship was funded through the Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development’s 2025 Urban Agenda Grant. It will provide independent cultural workers, emerging entrepreneurs in the culture and arts sector, local artists, small creative business owners, and independent contractors who work or live in Springfield with the tools they need to strengthen the creative economy and advance economic development.

The program features a $500 stipend to each fellow for their participation. In addition, beginning next month and lasting until June, there will be six in-person sessions where fellows will engage in professional development sessions focused on wellness, culture, and arts. Each fellow will develop a plan tailored to them to foster engagement with the community, professional growth, and advancement in their creative careers. Such programs often use brochure printing to provide more detailed information about their features and benefits.

Director of the program, Vanessa Ford, said that this fellowship is an opportunity to invest in the resourceful and gifted creative community of Springfield. Ford added that equipping creative entrepreneurs and local artists with skills, networks, and resources will strengthen their individual practices and help build a more thriving creative community in the city.

Those interested in joining the fellowship need to register for the program by Monday, January 20.
