Springfield to host summer movies

Movies in the Park will be returning to Springfield this summer.

Movies will take place at various parks around the city and will be free. Executive Director of the Parks, Building and Recreational Management, Tom Ashe, said that this is an ideal way to show that the city is one community with everyone being able to see the same movie yet spreading out in different parks on several nights during the summer.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno expressed his excitement about bringing back this series as an ideal opportunity for friends and families to get together and enjoy movies in the beautiful parks in the city. He added that it enables people to use the parks for family-friendly activities and to promote community engagement.

Movies will be shown on a giant inflatable screen. Each movie will start at 8:30 p.m. Lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks are encouraged to be brought by each family.

Poster printing can be used throughout a city to promote such special events.

The remaining movies to be screened this summer will be Migration at Blunt Park on Monday July 15, at Emerson Wight Park on Wednesday July 17, and at Nathan Bill Park on Friday July 19 as well as Wonka on Monday July 22 at Van Horn Park, Wednesday July 24 at Myrtle St. Park, and Friday July 26 at Kenefick Park.
