Springfield to hold special restaurant month

The second year of Dine Black will be coming to Springfield this month.

This event is designed to encourage people to support restaurants and food providers in the area that are owned and operator by black people. Tracye Whitfield of the Springfield City Council said that Dine Black has is also being held for its second year to encourage people to try out different black cuisines and to help stimulate the local economy by supporting businesses that may have had a difficult year.

Whitfield added that people should not only visit a black-owned restaurant, but that they should visit other restaurants of culture in the community. Whitfield said that Springfield is highly diverse, and the community should enjoy what it has to offer and to support these businesses. Currently, there are 18 restaurants that have signed up to participate in Dine Black. Among these are Dewey’s Lounge, White Lion Brewery, Picky Dive Cookies, and Souper Sweet Sandwich Shop. Often, such events turn to creating a Logo Design which can be displayed on the Promotional Products that may be offered by participating restaurants.

Those who participate in Dine Black also have the opportunity to win $100. The first 10 people who visit five of the 18 restaurants and spend a minimum of $10 will be entered to win a Visa gift card worth $100. Receipts need to be sent to the Association of Black Businesses and Professionals.
