A construction training course is being offered by the city of Springfield to help develop workforce skills, put more people to work, and increase the availability of housing in the city. The course is starting this month and will take place after school hours.
Topics to be covered in the course include basic construction skills and property maintenance, safety at the worksite, energy efficiency, and mold abatement. The course will prepare attendees for positions as a carpenter’s helper, in property maintenance, and on construction crews.
Other training as part of the course will be to become EPA/Mass lead renovation, painting, and repair workers, and as certified lead-safe workers. These modules will be taught by ATC Group Services of West Springfield.
