Springfield to gain new apartment complex

The former Madison Square Fire Station and the vacant Indian Motocycle building on State Street in Springfield are currently be redeveloped as an apartment complex with 60 units. The units to be offered will range from apartments with between one and three bedrooms.

Brochure printing is often used to promote such new apartment complexes and their many features and amenities.

NEI General Contracting of Randolph was hired by First Resource Companies of Hanover, the developer, for the historic rehabilitation project that is expected to cost $23m.

What was once the Indian Motocycle company, which manufactured motorcycles from1901 to 1953, is to become a five-story building that will have 45 apartments. Most of the timber beams in the building will remain intact to keep the mill’s aesthetics, while the renovations will cover repair of the masonry and the installation of large windows.

The remaining 15 units will be in the adjacent former fire station and will include both exterior and interior renovations. Demolition of two commercial buildings on the other side of State Street will provide additional parking.

President of First Resource, Gordon Pulsifer, said that he has worked on many projects with NEI Contracting as NEI shares his company’s commitment to affordable housing and historic preservation that serves to create communities that revitalized, safe, and secure. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
