Springfield company to build new subway cars

New metro cars are being designed and built by CRRC in Springfield for the city of Los Angeles.

The new cars have been revealed by Chairman and President of CRRC Massachusetts, Jia Bo; James Gallagher, the Chief Operating Officer of Metro Los Angles, and Domenic Sarno, mayor of Springfield. CRRC Massachusetts was awarded the contract to build 64 new subway cars for the Purple and Red LA lines in 2016, with plans to build another 218 such cars for the price of $647m.

Sarno expressed his optimism about this project for the many opportunities it will provide for residents in the city and the surrounding area. He said that jobs will be created, and the company will expand to other metropolitan areas across the country, North America, and around the world. Gallagher added that he is looking forward to working closely with Springfield and the CRRC on this project.

There are 386 people working at CRRC Massachusetts. This project will require the hiring of 60 more people, with the expectation of hiring more in the upcoming years. Such jobs are often made known throughout a community with flyer printing services.

Senator Eric Lesser said that although this is good news for the people of Los Angeles, it is even better news for the city of Springfield as many people will need to be hired in order to fulfill this project.
