The 11th round of funding from the American Rescue Plan Act has been announced by Tom Sheehan, Chief Development Officer (CDO), and Mayor Domenic J. Sarno of Springfield.
Over $2.2m will be awarded. Of that amount, 23 small businesses will receive a total of $1,395,000, while 16 non-profit organizations will receive $888,820.70. In addition, an amount of $350,000 is being awarded under the Build Back Springfield program that will go towards the redevelopment of a historically significant and vacant building on Maple Street.
Announcements of such funding and its benefits for a city are often made known to residents with banner printing.
Over the last two years, the Sarno Administration has been dedicated to supporting businesses and organizations in the city. There have been citywide listening tour sessions where the administration met with over 35 non-profit organizations, businesses, and neighborhood councils to provide a comprehensive approach to offering assistance and relief for such entities and individuals in the city.
Mayor Sarno said that this round of funding is the culmination of his administration’s quest to provide this assistance and relief to the business community, non-profit organizations, and residents as soon as possible. He expressed his pride in how his administration has been able to get this funding to those in need, thus helping to create and support jobs in the city.
